The Cloud?

Long before “the cloud” was understood, we were hard at work creating TimesheetPlus using TC-1 as the blueprint for time and labor management functionality. As the earliest adopters, we’ve witnessed first-hand the power of the platform. As always, we were looking ahead.

Client Server and TCP/IP

As client environments advanced to take advantage of newer technology, TC-1’s client/server architecture was widely adopted allowing more security, accessibility, and speed. The dawn of “on-demand” was upon us.

The Internet of Things

Remember how we communicated before email? We do! It doesn’t seem that long ago when we were delivering software via snail mail. AOL kept us connected at home and changed the paradigm of owning a PC.

Windows Changes the Game

The first versions of TC-1 ran on MS-DOS, but when Microsoft released Windows and color monitors became the norm, the TC-1 Office was born. Current clients who experienced this transition still refer to the “office” as their first dashboard.

Playing with the Big Kids

Datamatics’ ability to make good use of thousands of computer terminals owned by AT&T led to a partnership that catapulted the TC-1 system. AT&T was marketing TC-1 nationally and large enterprises were adopting the system. Many of those clients are still with us today!

Making Big Strides

As several projects related to cost accounting, union rules analysis, and payroll were proving very successful, TC-1 was taking shape. Clients were reporting up to 5% reduction in payroll costs attributed to accuracy and the consistent application of company policies. That’s big bucks!

The Education Market

When the demand for software designed for elementary and secondary education was growing, Datamatics was there, ready to respond. Before there was TC-1, our company focused primarily on this market and provided many institutions with the modern education tools of the day.

From Mainframes to Micro Computers

As mini and microcomputers began to replace mainframes, we developed libraries of software packages individually designed for various functions. These packages were equivalent to the apps that would come 40 years later – simple stand-alone tools that do specific things very well.

A Solid Foundation is Established

In the early years, primary functions of Datamatics revolved around professional placement services, systems analysis, computer programming, and professional training. Success in these areas defined the core values we’re so proud of today.

How it all began…

Datamatics is established by 3 college professors in 1966. The company quickly achieved success in professional placement services throughout the Northeast. This was long before sites such as LinkedIn and CareerBuilder were even conceived.
